Lift is inspired by the traumatic experience of being trapped in a lift for a long time. This piece aims to capture the essence in particular of the unstable C block lift of the Sir Charles Groves Hall Unite Students Accommodation in Manchester. The piece is written for live solo violin and a pre-recorded electronics track which interact with each other. The violin primarily uses aleatoricism reflecting the unpredictable nature of lifts.​
