About
Kámea Németh was born in Budapest and moved to the UK when they were one years old. Now they are 21 years old and are studying composition at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. As a 21st century composer, they aim to break the social constructs of 'traditional' music while still maintaining connections to certain ‘conventions’. Some ways in which they like to do this is by experimenting with their use of musical notation such as aleatoricism and graphic notation. Throughout their work, Kámea likes to include elements of whimsy and playfulness but at the same time, they like their work to say something whether that be a bold political statement or a wacky re-telling of a story from their everyday life.

As well as a composer, Kámea is a classically trained singer. They joined the ExCathedra Junior and Senior Academy in 2013 and have enjoyed opportunities including performing in the Nutcracker, Carmina Burana and having the solo role of Sankta Lucia in the annual Sankta Lucia concert. Currently, Kámea is a member of the RNCM chamber choir and is the singer of Abbey Road via Oxford Road. They also co-direct the flexi new music ensemble, hispid, and are a member of the experimental electronics performance art group, MASSIVE NUN.

Since they have such a love for singing, Kámea writes a lot of their music for voice. Recent projects include a premiere performance of 'tesco peas' by mezzo Suzie Purkis, alto saxophonist Chris Bowden, and cellist Flora McNicoll. Future plans include curating a new music festival, the CURIO music festival.
